What is Agent Cohort?

Agent Cohort is a desktop application that lets you run multiple AI agent CLIs (Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, and custom adapters) side-by-side in a tiled grid. It handles PTY management, session persistence, and automatic resume so you can close and reopen your workspace without losing context.

Which AI agents does it support?

Out of the box: Anthropic Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, native shells (bash, zsh, PowerShell, cmd), and a custom adapter that wraps any CLI you can launch from a shell.

Is Agent Cohort free?

The installer is a free download for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Using the app requires signing in with an active Agent Cohort subscription. Three plans are coming soon: Solo, Pro, and Team.

What platforms are supported?

Windows (x64 installer), macOS (Universal - Intel + Apple Silicon), and Linux (AppImage).

How is it lightweight if it has so many plugins?

All built-in plugins ship in the archive but stay dormant on disk until you opt in to one. Disabled plugins have zero runtime cost. The base app loads only the PTY layer, the renderer, and a few persisted stores.

Can I write my own plugin?

Yes - a plugin is three files (manifest, main module, optional window UI). Drop the folder into the plugins directory, restart, and approve the consent dialog. The full plugin guide is in the docs.
